Artists & Themes for exam ideas

Year 11 are starting their final exam this term and Year 9 students are also undertaking an exam for the entry level qualificvation.
Both sets of students need to develop an idea for a scheme of work.

To help develp an idea for a scheme of work read this!

Every scheme starts with two basic factors:

A theme & an artist/s or culture

These two need to be sorted out first.

Here is an example of a final painting completed by a Year 11 student - the theme is flowers and the artist inspiring this piece was Georgia O Keeffe

Here portraiture is the theme and the chosen artist is Roy Lichenstein.

Do not try to think how you want your final piece to be, this should develop through the unit as it progresses.

Consider the following themes:

People
Sport
Fashion
Make up
Dance
Your possessions
Your hobbies
Toys
Shoes
Emotions
Architecture
Dance
Sport
Food
Hobbies
Design a poster
Create an abstract image -
Art work based on different cultures
Music

Select one or plan your own!

Remember to do something you are interested in!

Consider these artists:

Patrick Caulfied - bold, sharp and colourful
Andy Warhol - repetition of shape
Van Gogh - colour and texture
Roy Lichenstein - cartoon style
Picassco - Cubism - good for developing abstract ideas that explore surface and colour
Georgia O Keeffe - inspiring up close details
Henri Rousseau - plants and leaves
Gustav Klimit - pattern and colour
Henri Toulouse de Lautrec - poster design and figures
Chuck Close - portraiture and pattern
