Should you choose Art as a GCSE subject?
You have been studying to atain the Entry Level for Art and Design qualification. GCSE Art and Design is similar in the assessment requirements:
Observation: Drawing, photos, researching, collecting around a theme
Artist/Culture: Looking at work created by others, collecting ideas and ways of working
Experiment/Design: Trying out ideas, exploring materials, using both sets of research to inspire original art work
Final Outcome: The final piece of work that reflects all the researching, collecting and designing and creative ideas
Work is undertaken in lesson with guidance and homework is set once a week and follows similar patterns to homework set in Year 9, observation, research, collecting, resourcing.
Written work always requires you to say what you think and feel, explain your investigations. It does need to be well written, grammer and spell checked.
Choose Art if:
you enjoy the subject
you have coped with one homework once a week
you like to be creative
you can express yourself
You will be given the opportunity to:
develop your art skills using a range of materials
explore subjects and themes that interest you
create individual and exciting art work
Do not choose Art if:
you are not prepared to do homework
you do not want to think for yourself
if you think Art is the easy option
Your skill level in Art is not important, your enthusiasm is!
